Avontuur Estate’s participation in the 8th Winter Wine Festival last week opened doors for the winery into the northern suburbs with 100’s of visitors making a point of getting to the stand especially to taste the Cabernet Franc, which ended up one of the favourite wines on show.
The other hit of the event was our dark chocolate cups filled with a tot of 10 year old brandy, which was for sale from the stand. According to Western Cape Sales Representative Schalk Honeyman, who was on “duty” throughout the festival, these were sold in their 100’s to willing brandy lovers!
Over and above the wines on show, winemaker Jan van Rooyen handled two of the popular Cape Wine Academy tastings on Thursday and Friday night respectively namely the “Stickies, Fortified and Brandy” tasting, which were enthusiastically supported by visitors.

We also had fun with giving away one of our exclusive “Jake White” signed Magnums via show radio sponsor Bok Radio – and Robert was on hand on Saturday morning to hand over the prize to a delighted winner, posing here with Bok Radio DJ, Werner.
