It was an evening of celebrations for Variety Club and his supporters last night at the Emperor’s Palace Equus award ceremony in Johannesburg when he was crowned 2012 Horse of the Year after a fantastic 12 months which saw him winning 3 sets of Guineas at Grade level.
As if that wasn’t enough he added the 3 yr old Colt/Gelding title and the Middle Distance Horse title to his trophy case as well!
The Joey Ramsden trained colt has been a wonderful showcase for champion sire VAR, and as GM Pippa Mickleburgh says; “For us who believed in him throughout, it’s great to have ongoing confirmation that the VAR’s are top milers too and the longer distances are totally within their grasp as proven by this award. In addition to that it’s a huge achievement for VAR to produce a horse of this caliber so early in his stud career and can only stand us and him in good stead in future.”
Last night’s event was the culmination of a week of glory for Variety Club, who was also crowned Western Cape Horse of the Year last Friday night, amongst other accolades.
Congratulations to owners Markus and Ingrid Jooste and Joey and his whole team for this fantastic achievement. We look forward to the next chapter in Variety Club’s brilliant career.
