South Africa’s dual Horse Of The Year, Variety Club, makes his long awaited return to the track when he steps out in Thursday night’s Gr3 Firebreak Stakes at Meydan.
The 5yo son of Var, who will be partnered by regular rider Anton Marcus, is making his first start in Dubai, and is set to race for the first time since last June.
Competing in a 1600m turf event, Variety Club’s eight opponents include stable mate Mars and Snowboarder – who finished second in the UAE 2000 Guineas to Soft Falling Rain.
Winner of 14 of his 19 outings, Variety Club has won over R3.7 million to date, and has won four Gr1 contests.
