Avontuur-bred colt, Tevez (named after one of Pippa’s favourite soccer players), kicked off the summer season in the Cape with a great win over 1200m in the listed Sophomore Sprint on Sunday at Kenilworth race course.
Under the extremely capable hands of champion jockey Anton Marcus he didn’t put a foot wrong and this son of Caesour and Avontuur’s Elliodor mare, Minelli (also dam of the brilliant Val de Ra), showed his class and is paying back trainer Mike Bass’s belief in his ability after purchasing him at the National Yearling Sale a year ago for R700 000.
This is his second win, and we look forward to many more.
