Avontuur Estate’s highly rated and internationally acclaimed sire of 5 Gr 1 winners to date, Oratorio, was officially launched to the public, racing fraternity and the media at the farm against the Helderberg between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
A cool autumn morning in the Boland turned out to be the perfect setting for a celebratory day consisting of gorgeous horses, great wine and a buffet spread aimed to please the most discerning palate.
After Michael Taberer welcomed the guests, it was the turn of Avontuur’s well-known champion sire VAR to take the “stage” and he was greeted with admiration by all attendees, most of whom by now knew him and his star progeny very well. Then it was the turn of the “man of the day”, Oratorio who went through his paces like the pro he is, and coolly posed for the pics like a super model of note.
Guests then moved to the restaurant and winery for a relaxing afternoon with the Avontuur team.
All ended off well for a new addition to the SA racing and breeding scene and for which we have high hopes!
