Avontuur’s first venture into the 2012 Emperor’s Palace Ready to Run Sale on 2 and 4
November is exciting colt, High Stakes (Lot 121) by newly crowned Australian champion
freshman sire Casino Prince.
After the recent win by his son, All Too Hard in the Gr 1 Caulfield Guineas against the
previously unbeaten Gold Slipper winner Pierro as well as featuring other top-class
performers like Longport and Trophies in his 3yo crop, Casino Prince deservedly stands as
one of the top ten sires on the Australian general sires list and has made a huge impact in
a short time in that country and wherever his offspring are performing.
High Stakes is from a superb female line as well – and is a member of the one of the most
powerful and illustrious maternal lines in the stud book. His dam, already a proven winner
producer is a half-sister to two black type performers. The colt’s second dam is Lady’s
Delight, a Gr 1 performer in South Africa.
This family has a proven track record in this country with the likes of top-class filly
Daphne Donnelly, successful sire Announce and Gr 1 SA Derby winner Bouquet-Garni amongst
them.
“Although we were not happy when he missed out on the 2012 Yearling Sale earlier this year
due to a quarantine hiccup, he is looking exceptionally well now. Prospective buyers should
look at him as a serious purchase at this event and we are incredibly excited to have him on
our books and bring some Aussie magic to the tracks here,” says Avontuur GM Pippa
Mickleburgh.
Offered by Ambleway on behalf of Avontuur, this classy youngster is a runner in the
R2,5million Emperors Palace Ready to Run Cup, which is restricted exclusively to graduates
of this sale.
High Stakes is a colt with an exceptional pedigree and should he follow in the steps of his
illustrious forebears, we will hear a lot more of him over the next few years.
