KZN seems to be on a roll for us with a cosy win by daughter of VAR, Schiffer on Sunday in her return to racing after nearly a year off from injury. Owners Lindy White, Leigh Taberer and Gaynor Rupert must be enjoying this feat and it’s congrats all around, especially to trainer Dennis Drier for getting her back to top form.
Via Africa, another very fast VAR filly, had some consolation at the Gold Circle KZN Racing Awards 2013 when she won the Champion Sprinter and the Champion 3yo filly trophies, after missing out at the Equus Awards earlier. Congratulation to owners Andre Hauptfleisch and Mr Boshoff as well as trainer Duncan Howells, for their outstanding job with this speedster.
With both her and Schiffer set for the Cape Season, we expect great rivalry and excitement when these two VAR’s go head to head.
