Punters and race goers can look forward to a day full of exciting racing with some of South Africa’s highest rated horses included in the first entry sheet, released earlier this week.
The Gr1 R1 000 000 Avontuur Estate Fillies Guineas over 1600m is looking great with last year’s 2yo champion Along Came Polly leading a field of potential winners which include top Joburg filly For the Lads and Mike de Kock’s entry Copiapo, both of which are serious contenders. Avontuur is loving the fact that there are two Var’s in the line-up namely Sea Cat and She’s a Pippa, which will just add to the fun for the Estate team on the day.
The Gr 2 Tony Taberer Southern Cross Stakes looks like a Var “party” with speedy filly Via Africa taking on serious competition like Schiffer and Valdivia as well as Avontuur-bred Captain’s Lullaby and Avontuur-owned Torra Bay, all of whom make up a class field for this race.
Third on the list of main races for the day is the Listed Val de Ra Southeaster Sprint where the Var’s, Casual Var, Happy Forever and Gogotine take on each other with Avontuur-bred Tevez to round out the competition.
Racing enthusiasts can expect stiff competition and hard racing on the day with a great selection of entries lined up for the thousands of spectators expected at Kenilworth for this first important racing event on the Summer Calender in the Cape.
