Avontuur’s crop of outstanding fillies contributed to the excellent sales results achieved this year for Fillies at the 2014 Cape Premier Yearling sale which ended at the CTICC on Friday with an aggregate of just over R103 000 000 in sales, an increase of 4.7% over last year.
Outstanding filly Varumba by Var out of Muamba (Arg) achieved top income for Avontuur at R2.5 million with fillies like Baltia (Var x Baltic Beauty) going for R1 100 000, Galadriel (Horse Chestnut x Mysterious Land) at R850 000 and Bacqueira (Western Winter x Viva) at R750 000.
Amongst the colts, Val Et Al (Captain Al x Valeta) sold for R700 000 and Sound Cloud by Var out of Avian Talk for R400 000
Overall the Sale was a huge success for Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm with GM Pippa Mickleburgh once again thanking all Avontuur’s loyal supporters amongst owners and trainers for their support. Preparations are now starting for the National Yearling Sale in Johannesburg in April, for which a strong showing from the Cape is once again expected.
