With Winter finally upon us and the Winelands lashed by ice cold wind and rain on a daily basis, our thoughts turn towards red wine, fireplaces and filling meals – all of which are on hand at Avontuur Estate!
We’ve got a great red wine special on in the tasting room this month with a 6 pack made up of 3 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and 3 bottles of Pinotage at only R400 for the box. (Usual price: R588). You can also pop in for a Father’s Day gift with a bottle of each of the same wines and wine accessories in a specially packed green and gold gift box for R280 instead of the full price of R379. (The Father’s Day gift is only valid until Sunday, 15/6).
In the restaurant the underfloor heating and fireplaces are going and it’s really cosy to sit inside and enjoy a great meal whilst watching the rain fall outside.
We’re re-introducing our fortified Liqueur Wine, Above Royalty this month and have paired it with one of two dessert options: A mascarpone and gorgonzola filled crepe with poached pears and a coffee and pecan nut topping (R65) or a mini cheese platter & biscuits made up of a Chevin, a matured cheddar and a blue cheese (R60). Both include a glass of the rich, sweet Liqueur wine as a pairing partner and we’d love to know what you think!
The restaurant is open daily for breakfast and lunch and for dinner on Wednesdays and Fridays. Also remember the Early Bird Dinner special on those two evenings, but do make sure you have ordered by 18h30!
