CPYS18 Curated Yearling Group Ready to Go!

With the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale around the corner,  Avontuur is presenting a group of nine carefully selected yearlings to discerning buyers this year.   Five fillies and four colts will fly our flag at this prestigious event and we believe it’s a quality offering.

“I selected a group by internationally renowned and proven sires as well as from trending families and outstanding blood lines.  Additionally the group had to be naturally precocious and in excellent physical condition to stand out amongst what is usually a high-quality selection for this Sale,” says Avontuur Estate GM Pippa Mickleburgh.

Avontuur’s proven international sire Oratorio ticks all these boxes and with three yearlings (two colts and one filly) in the line-up,  buyers should be keen to view these.  Lot 33 Snowdon (Oratorio x In Camera) is a half-brother to the talented Attenborough  and Lot 64 Mantra out of the female line of Front of House both fit the bill. The filly Lot 171 (Oratorio x Viva la Belle) Salvadora who is a half-sister to Gr 1 winner King of Pain, will also attract attention.

Silvano is a Champion Sire and needs no introduction and Lot 50 Honfleur is a half-sister to Gr 1 winner Normanz, which should make her worth a visit once the group arrives at the CTICC.  Captain Al (who passed away last year) is a SA Champion Sire and Lot 199, a colt called Baltic Mission from the female line of Nother Russia is a very impressive type.  The one Trippi in this selection is a stunning filly called Spring Break (Lot 72), who is out of multiple winner Miss October and the family of August Rush, which makes her a definite contender in the “trending family”category.

Two of the newer sires also feature in our crop, with a filly called White Lace (Lot 183) by recent USA import Flower Alley out of A Daughter’s Legacy, herself a Gr 2 winner in her day.  She is a half-sister to the talented Ancestry and is an attractive high-quality filly.  Lot 67 is by Champion local and international race horse Soft Falling Rain and this is his first crop.  This is a flashy filly called Seven Cape Winters out of Menorah,  from the female line of Cold As Ice and Live Life.  You can’t get “hotter” at the moment.

Avontuur’s offering would not be complete without at least one yearling by our own Champion sire Var, and Lot 95 Ground Control doesn’t disappoint.  He is out of Stakes winner Pan Am and shows the quality and athletic ability of his bloodline.

Pippa and her team welcomes visitors at the Avontuur Hospitality Lounge at the CTICC  from Wednesday, 17 January.  We hope to have the support of our loyal buyers once again this year as it’s a stunning selection!
