The champagne corks were popping earlier today at Turffontein when Avontuur-bred Legal Eagle won the Gr 1 SA Derby over 2450m, thereby winning the R2 000 000 pot for proud owners Markus and Ingrid Jooste and thrilling the crowd, as well as Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh who was on hand to see it all.
He was born at Avontuur in 2011 by Grey’s Inn out of Young Sensation and even at an early age seemed set for bigger things.
