Thirteen yearlings from Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm were presented for sale at the 2015 Cape Yearling Sale at the CTICC which took place last week, and were universally judged as one of the best drafts ever produced by this boutique breeder.
“For the first time in many years I couldn’t identify any favourites and all thirteen were highly sought after for viewings before and during the Sale,” says Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh. “ The Sale started off well on day one with beautiful Trippi x Viva filly called Live Life going for R2.5 million to Mr Peter du Toit for training by Mike Bass. We ended up with an average sale price of R850 000 per yearling after another good one on day two, when a Western Winter x In Camera colt called Attenborough went for R2 million. The results show that we are on the right path,” she continued.
Other good sellers were a Jay Peg colt called Jika who was knocked down for R1 000 000 and a Var x La Normandie colt for R850 000, with the much awaited Var x River Jetez colt Rivarine going for R600 000.
“But overall I am just so happy and proud of our performance and can only thank the Taberer family, owners of Avontuur and my loyal team who made all of this possible,” she said.
Avontuur Estate is grateful also to all the loyal owners and trainers who make these achievements possible and would like to wish everyone well with their new acquisitions.
