Thursday afternoon’s Avontuur Estate Fillies Guineas Barrier Draw on the terrace at the winery worked out well for upcountry horses with good draws for Rumya, Festival of Fire and Amber Orchid. Not to be forgotten are some of the Cape’s top horses with current favourite All is Secret planning to hold the fort for the locals!
After a fun event, which included linking the participating nationalities and their charities to horses running in the main race, the crowd consisting of the racing fraternity, media, visitors and Phumelela and Western Cape Racing staff, settled in for some good wine and fantastic snacks, courtesy of the Winery and Restaurant.
Now it’s full steam ahead for next Saturday’s exciting race day at Kenilworth.
