Avontuur’s Pride & Joy destined for Cape Yearling Sale

Seven fillies and four colts make up this year’s excellent crop of yearlings destined for the prestigious Cape Premier Yearling Sale which takes place on 23 and 24 January at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Avontuur’s champion stallion Var is represented by five yearlings with the highest rated Lot 125 Varvasion, who is the full sister to talented two year old Normanz. Lot 26, a filly named Ooh La Var out of Young Sensation is expected to do well too.  Lot 145 Varumba and Lot 43 Baltia are both outstanding first foals out of talented race mares Muamba and Baltic Beauty,  and we expect them to create quite a stir amongst buyers.

The only colt by Var is Lot 41, Sound Cloud out of Avian Talk, who is the full brother to Twitter, now racing in Mauritius.

Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh commented that she rates Lot 16 Giveusakiss very highly.  “She is the full sister to J & B and Queens Plate hopeful King of Pain and is a promising filly with paddock value as well.”

Other progeny by leading sires like Western Winter, Horse Chestnut, Captain Al  and exciting newcomer Warm White Night, make up the full draft.

The yearlings are available for private viewing at the Estate, about 40 minutes from Cape Town and interested parties are welcome to contact Pippa Mickleburgh directly on stud@avontuurestate.co.za to arrange a date and time.

Avontuur’s stud lounge inside the CTICC will be open from Tuesday, 21 January for viewing and with award-winning wines and snacks on offer, it is the perfect place to meet the yearlings face-to-face, if time to visit the Estate is an issue.
