Although the Helderberg Wine Region produces some of South Africa’s most
pricy wines, the area also has a reputation for wines which over- deliver on
their price – and the annual Best Value Wine Guide, sponsored by Ultra
Liquors offer proof of this.
After tasting nearly 600 wines to identify those under R80 which are
highlighted in the 2013 guide, Avontuur is proud to be included with two
Reds. The Vintner’s Red Cabernet/Shiraz 2010 at R50 per bottle easily fits
the bill and was expected to do well, but we really love the fact that our soft
and smooth Bordeaux style Cabernet/Merlot 2008 at around R70 per bottle
is in there too!
Both wines are available in selected outlets in the Western Cape, KZN and
Gauteng or directly from the tasting room on the Estate.
