Avontuur-bred Tevez, out of four times winning Elliodor mare Minelli, who is also the dam of Equus Sprinter of the Year, Val de Ra, showed his class on Saturday at Kenilworth when he won the R300 000 Gr 2 Merchants Handicap by a head!
Named after Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh’s favourite soccer player, he paraded his impressive credentials under in form jockey Glen Hatt on the day, and repaid trainer Mike Bass for his patient nurturing after quite a long wait for a win of this caliber.
Avontuur is looking forward to seeing much more of Tevez at the Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas race day on 7 December when he is in the running for the Listed Val de Ra Southeaster Sprint.
